Studies Weekly in the Classroom

We use Studies Weekly for every social studies class and students are expected to have the newspaper with them for class.  When we read text, we utilize our close reading skills to annotate, analyze, and study the text.  Students are expected to follow along in class.  Like all subjects, students should study their notes for about 10-15 minutes every night.  They do not have to reread the the text (unless they would like to), but they should read over the notes we have taken on the newspaper.  I have provided an example as to how I instruct the students below (please see video).  ALL assessments given are open note (that is stated on top of the test and I remind students of that before taking it).  With that said, no test is given without us having gone through all topics on the studies weekly, whether it is through instruction during class or assigned for homework and then discussing it in class.
