Week of October 29, 2018

Hello fabulous parents!

Here's a look at what is coming up this week and what we will work on:

We have the DEA presentations on Tuesday that will run from 8:00am-10:45am.
On Wednesday, we will learn more about the water cycle through Enviroscope.

Don't forget that on Oct. 31, students may dress up as their favorite book character.  To participate, the students are asked to pay $5 to the Beta Club who will then donate money collected to help with hurricane relief.

Reading
We are continuing to research how animals defend themselves.  The students will decide on which animal they want to research this week for their in class project.

Writing
I have extended the fictional narratives for a few more days, but we will move on to opinion writing by Wednesday.

Math
We are moving on to multiplication and division.  With that said, we will have a posttest on Friday over quarter 1 concepts (place value, multi-step word problems involving measurement, and perimeter).  We will review concepts through instruction in class and homework on IXL.com and Moby Max.

If you would like for your child to begin reviewing, they may do so on IXL.com.  They need to log in and go to the math tab.  They may review the following concepts over the weekend: A.1 and B.2.

The Moby Max assessment that I assigned the students will be completed in class.

Social Studies
We are moving on to Social Studies Weekly 4, which continues discussing the American Revolution.

Science
From Mr. Mathews: Please have students study their cloud finder wheel for a quiz on Tuesday. The students will have to match the cloud type with the information given. Thank you for your support.

Okay, I think that is it.  :0)

Have a great weekend!
